08.06.22

Representatives of twelve Russian companies and institutions signed the Code at the XIII International IT-forum with the participation of BRICS and SCO countries on the 8th of June. The signing ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area–Yugra Alexei Zabozlaev and Head of the working group “Normative Regulation” of the AI Alliance, Managing Director of the Sberbank AI Regulation Center Andrey Neznamov.

“Artificial Intelligence plays an important role in the lives of billions of people. The latest technologies are transforming our societies sometimes imperceptibly, but often with profound consequences. They are forcing us to think about what it means to be “human.” In this regard, UNESCO adopted the Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence last year,” said Andrey Neznamov, “So, today Russia is one of the leaders of ethical application of AI. The norms of our AI Ethics Code are based on the human-centered principle, according to which technologies must contribute to the realization of all potential human capabilities. It is our common task to do what we can to ensure that developments are as safe and ethical as possible.”

“The growing number of participants who have joined the Code clearly demonstrates the responsible attitude of developers, representatives of science, business and society towards AI technologies,” said Alexey Zabozlaev, Deputy Governor of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area–Yugra, “The Code participants show that transparency, fairness and safe functioning of technologies are a priority for them and for their end-user. It is important to create a reliable AI and increase the level of user confidence in it, including through the adoption of ethical standards.”

The new members of the Code include Yugra State University, as well as 11 organizations: SerchInform LLC, Yugorsk Research Institute of Information Technology, Sovetsk Polytechnic College, Regional Youth Centre, Union of Educational Relations, IT-Contract LLC, Tsifrium LLC, 1T LLC, Platora LLC, Domashnie seti LLC, MedInfoCentr LLC.
