The AI Alliance will address ethical issues surrounding the use of artificial intelligence in medicine

The Commission for the Implementation of the Code of Ethics in the Field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), operating on the basis of the Alliance in the Field of Artificial Intelligence, is creating a working group on the ethics of artificial intelligence in the medical field. This decision was made at a meeting of AI ethics commissioners and Code signatories.

Andrey Neznamov, Chairman of the Commission for the Implementation of the Code of Ethics in the Field of Artificial Intelligence:

“We consider it correct and timely to create a separate working group, whose work will be devoted to issues of ethics in the development and application of artificial intelligence technologies in the field of medicine. This area of ​​application of AI is at the same time one of the most delicate and one of the fastest growing and promising in terms of impact on the quality of life.”

Also, by the decision of the meeting, three new participants were accepted into the National Commission on Ethics in the Field of AI: co-founder of the MeDiCase information service, resident of MTP NEWDIAMED LLC Andrey Vorobyov, head of the ML department at Globus IT Ilya Pomerantsev, head of the School of Philosophy of the Faculty of Humanities at the Higher School of Economics Anastasia Uglev.

The Code of Ethics in the Field of Artificial Intelligence was developed in 2021 and is being improved at the AI Alliance site together with representatives of the academic community with the support of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation and the National AI Center under the Government of the Russian Federation. Among the first to sign the document were Sberbank, Yandex, VK, Gazprom Neft and RDIF, as well as other leading companies and institutions. To date, the Code has been signed by 187 representatives of business, development companies, the scientific community, and non-profit organizations.

AI Alliance unites leading technological companies for joint development of their competences and accelerated implementation of AI in education, scientific research and practical business activities. The Alliance companies are Sber, Gazprom Neft, Yandex, VK, MTS and RDIF. The mission of the association is to be the center of AI development in Russia and to provide technological leadership for our country and the Alliance companies in the global technology market.
