Code of Ethics presented to the Advisory Council on Artificial Intelligence of Uzbekistan

On October 18, 2022, the official ceremony of forming the first composition of the Advisory Council on Artificial Intelligence under the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan and its program meeting took place. With the assistance of the Russian Agency of Strategic Initiatives, the event was attended by the Chairman of the Russian Commission for the Implementation of the Code of Ethics in the Field of Artificial Intelligence, Head of the Working Group “Regulatory Regulation” of the Alliance in the Field of AI Andrey Neznamov. As part of his speech, he informed  the meeting participants about the Code and invited Council members to consider the possibility of participating in the work of the community.

“The concept of ethics in the 21st century has become a central element in regulating the market of artificial intelligence technologies. Leading IT corporations, national authorities in many countries, and interstate associations are involved in its improvement. The adoption of the Code of Ethics is an opportunity for industry participants to create “soft law” for self-regulation of the industry,” said Andrey Neznamov.

The Advisory Council on Artificial Intelligence, created under the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan, will include, in addition to representatives of the ministry, international experts from Russia, China, India, Iran, the UAE, Tajikistan, the USA and EU countries.

The Advisory Council on Artificial Intelligence (AI Council) was established in August of this year under the Ministry of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan with the aim of creating conditions for the formation of an expert community and the development of public dialogue on this topic. The Council’s tasks include supporting fields related to AI in the Republic of Uzbekistan, developing individual projects, elaborating promising initiatives and establishing international contacts for integration into the global community, which is working on the conscious and ethical use of artificial intelligence. The honorary chairman of the council is the Minister of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov.

The Russian Code of Ethics in the field of AI was developed on the Alliance’s platform about artificial intelligence with the support of the Russian Federation President’s Administration, the Government’s Analytical Center, the Ministry of Economic Development and a group of academics, and also underwent expert and public discussion on the platforms of ANO Digital Economy, the Federation Council, and the Public chambers.

AI Alliance unites leading technological companies for joint development of their competences and accelerated implementation of AI in education, scientific research and practical business activities. The Alliance companies are Sber, Gazprom Neft, Yandex, VK, MTS and RDIF. The mission of the association is to be the center of AI development in Russia and to provide technological leadership for our country and the Alliance companies in the global technology market.
