On Friday, July 26, the results of voting for the re-election of the Chairman and composition of the Commission for the Implementation of the Code of Ethics in the field of AI, which was held at the regular meeting of authorized representatives of the organizations-signatories of the Code, were summed up.
Andrey Neznamov, Managing Director and Head of the Center for Human-Centered AI at Sberbank, was re-elected Chairman of the Commission.
It included Anna Abramova (MGIMO), Elena Avakyan (FPA RF), Vladislav Arkhipov (Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science), Alexey Byrdin (Internet Video), Andrey Vorobyev (Newdiamed), Ksenia Ekimova (G.V. Plekhanov Russian Economic University), Sergei Izrazlova (G.V. Plekhanov Russian Academy of Sciences), and others. At the meeting Andrey Neznamov summarized the results of the Commission’s work on the implementation of the Code of Ethics for 2 years:
— More than 20 signing rounds of the Code have been held.
— More than 380 participants from 21 jurisdictions have joined the Code.
— Market leaders developed and signed declarations to follow up the Code: Declaration on Responsible Export of AI Technologies, Declaration on Responsible Generative AI.
— Working groups have published recommendations for addressing ethical issues arising in the life cycle of developing and using AI solutions.
— Joint efforts of the Commission, working groups and invited experts are preparing a draft White Paper with answers to a wide range of topical questions in the field of ethical aspects of creation and application of AI products. The book will be released in the fall and presented at the international conference “Journey into the World of Artificial Intelligence” 2024.
The speakers of the meeting emphasized that the soft regulation or self-regulation of AI in Russia allows the industry to develop at a rapid pace, especially in comparison with countries where strict regulation of the technology is applied, and the presence of such a platform for dialogue between business and government as the AI Alliance provides an opportunity to find common approaches for market participants to regulate the industry.
