The AI Alliance, which brings together Russia’s leading technology and industrial companies, today serves not merely as an expert forum but as a full-fledged mechanism for accelerating the adoption of AI—from market leaders to widespread implementation across the economy.
Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Sberbank and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the AI Alliance, shared this view in an interview with the Chinese publication Sina Finance during the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2026. He spoke about the Alliance’s key role in the adoption of artificial intelligence in Russia, as well as the business community’s involvement in shaping national legislation in this area.
Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Sberbank:
“The AI Alliance serves as a mechanism for accelerating the adoption of AI in the Russian economy—from early adopters to widespread implementation. We are currently launching a showcase of AI use cases, which brings together application scenarios, participants’ implemented projects, and an assessment of the effects of implementation. We are paying particular attention to the development of the AI Financial Impact Atlas—AFIINA—a universal methodology for assessing financial impact across all sectors of the economy.”
Vedyakhin noted that thanks to the six industry clubs operating within the Alliance, participants are able to develop unified approaches to the implementation of artificial intelligence and standards for the application of technologies in key sectors: finance, agribusiness, transportation and logistics, telecommunications and ICT, healthcare, and construction. This not only allows for the standardization of industry practices but also creates a foundation for scaling successful solutions across the country.
Particular attention was paid to the Alliance’s role in shaping the national regulatory agenda. The Alliance played a key role in drafting the bill on artificial intelligence by presenting a consolidated position on behalf of the business community. The heads of companies belonging to the Alliance are members of the Presidential AI Task Force and lead key working groups. This direct involvement of the market’s largest players in the legislative process has made it possible to integrate best business practices into the country’s public policy.
Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Sberbank:
“The Alliance played an important role in drafting the bill on artificial intelligence by presenting a consolidated business position. The heads of the Alliance’s member companies are part of the AI Task Force under the President of the Russian Federation and lead key working groups. The inclusion of representatives from major businesses in the process of shaping AI legislation has made it possible to integrate best business practices into the country’s public policy.”
Alexander Vedyakhin also emphasized that the Alliance is open to international cooperation and ready to share its experience with foreign partners, including Chinese companies and regulators.
